Then the instructor gives a sheet of paper with two exercices to each group. In the first one, each group has to think about the period that their pictures belong to. After this, in the second exercice the pupils have to place the images in the correspondent years, depending on the period they have chosen. Then, a representative from each group comes to the blackboard to put the images in the order that the group has decided. While the student puts the images in the mural with the help of the teacher, the instructor asks the class group the meaning of the words that appear in the pictures. Thus, with the interventions of the class group, both the teacher and the students try to construct the meaning of some concepts such as the Industrial Revolution or the fall of the Roman Empire. |
After putting all the pictures in the mural and discussing their meaning, the teacher puts aside the mural and the pictures.
She does not tell the students if their hypothesis about the order of the images are correct or not. She explains that at the end of the project, they will hang the mural again and put the pictures in the correct order. However, this will happen after the investigation of the periods. |
